Concrete Scanning
GPR scanning of slabs, walls and decks before coring, cutting or drilling — find rebar, conduit and post-tension hazards first.
Cutting or coring concrete without scanning risks hitting rebar, electrical conduit, or post-tension cables — with consequences ranging from expensive repairs to serious injury. PCI Surveys scans concrete with high-frequency GPR to map embedded objects before anyone cuts.
We mark scan results directly on the surface, clear proposed core and cut locations, and help crews shift layouts to avoid embedded hazards. Available for slabs, suspended decks, walls and structures across BC, Alberta and the Yukon.
What PCI Performs
- Rebar and reinforcing mesh mapping
- Electrical conduit detection in slabs and walls
- Post-tension cable investigations
- Slab thickness assessment
- Core and cut location clearance
- Void investigations under slabs where conditions allow
When You Need It
- Before coring, cutting or drilling concrete
- Before anchoring into suspended slabs
- During renovations of existing structures
- When embedded conduit or cables may be present
Who Uses It
- Concrete cutting and coring contractors
- Electrical and mechanical contractors
- General contractors and renovators
- Facility owners and managers
Deliverables
- Surface markings of embedded objects at scan locations
- Cleared/adjusted core locations
- Scan reports with imagery where required

Common Questions
Concrete Scanning FAQs
What does concrete scanning find?
Rebar, post-tension cables, electrical conduit, pipes and voids inside slabs, walls and columns — everything you need to know before cutting, coring or drilling.
Why scan before coring or cutting?
Striking a post-tension cable or live conduit is dangerous and expensive. A scan takes minutes and marks safe locations directly on the concrete before the saw arrives.
Can you scan walls and ceilings?
Yes — slabs, vertical walls and overhead surfaces can all be scanned, on new construction and existing structures alike.
How are results delivered?
Findings are marked right on the surface so trades can work immediately, with reports and imagery available when your project needs documentation.
